Pierrehaps: *GIG ALERT* & juicy projects & a new radio show
Some strong recommendations coming your way too
Hello there,
I realised I haven’t sent something out since the new year, and an awful lot has been going on so I thought maybe it’s time to send some updates!
I started the year (as mentioned in the previous stack), a little bit burnt out and not really sure how to engage with London, and so I set three intentions:
To build a community
To make sure there’s always space and time for me
To say yes to as much as I can
With the goal of just meeting people, making new friends and starting to build some kind of community on my terms. I felt that I was just trundling along pre-New Years letting things happen to me. So some small updates: I’ve joined a running club, I’ve started going to the theatre and gigs with lots of friends, I’ve been playing trombone a bit and I’ve been saying YES.
I’d love to know how your intentions have been, what you’ve been up to & how you’ve dealt with the new year beginning (or maybe whether you’ve managed to keep an intention going until now?)

you are wonderful, thank you.
now that we’ve covered that, onto some stuff:
5th March - Band On The Wall Gig
I’m playing Band On The Wall with my lovely band on the 5th of March. That’s in 9 days! I was trying for an awfully long time to make this a tour (like two months), but it seems like it’s an incredibly hard climate to be able to confirm gigs at the moment, so I’m glad to have this in at least. Unbelievably it’s going to be the first gig since True came out last summer!
As well as playing my already released music, there will be FIVE new tunes to share, so please do come along if you’re feeling up for it, it’s going to be a lovely night.
Tickets are available here:
Theatre Projects upcoming
I’ve been a busy bee getting some projects booked in for the next few months as composer/sound designer and I’m completely full until June now which is an odd but lovely feeling!
Fraternity - Fringe theatre show on the topic of toxic masculine culture & identity within frats, with runs upcoming at Old Red Lion & Fringes: Edinburgh, Brighton, Prague & Camden.
Piaf - my following sound design assistant role at the Watermill - a biopic of Edith Piaf
Local - a lovely northern tour with many recurring team members from Joy Unspeakable, looking at identity and clashes with inherited culture
Binaural R&D looking at storytelling of stutters through a dramatic retelling of La Voix Humaine
Permission - a beautiful story looking at ‘freedom’ and what it means to different people from the perspective of a woman moving from Pakistan to the UK
All very exciting!
Music For The Soul - Islington Radio
I’ve been thinking for a while about producing a radio show in which I can share music that I find nourishing. I saw a while ago that Islington Radio shared a post that they were looking for new contributors to the station and I submitted my idea!
Welcome to the stage, Music For The Soul - a monthly soul-food digest, dabbling lines between jazz, folk, world and electronic music. This show is a celebration of this music, and also a space to retreat within yourself for reflection.
It’s going to be a monthly release, and here are the first two episodes:
Recommendations
In what is becoming tradition (even though it’s very late), here’s some recommendations, music I’ve been listening to, shows I’ve gone to see - e t c! :
My Dec-Feb sum up of fun songs. There’s some gorgeous ones here. Please take a listen: x
I’ve been to see many theatre shows in the last few months. The last two stand out as being highly excellent. They’re STILL SHOWING so get tickets if you can!!
Otherland - Almeida Theatre. A thoroughly excellent delving into womanhood, society’s expectations and relationship dynamics around gender. Metaphor, storytelling, music and acting all seamless combine for a beautiful and difficult story.
Shit Theatre: Or What’s Left Of Us - Soho Theatre. Another seriously thoroughly excellent piece of theatre, communal singing, reflection, self examination and grief, which never felt voyeuristic and always felt true, intimate and sacred. One of the best things I’ve seen in a very long time.
Gosh if you have met me in the last few months you’ll know I’ve been reading this book The New Silk Roads: A New History of the World by Peter Frankopan. It’s an excellent retelling of global history from the perspective of the Silk Road and trade routes. I’m at very recent history and foreign policy in the Middle East, which if you’ve never really delved into it, is fascinating and explains a lot about how things are working in the world right now. It also explains a lot about Trump’s current approach to Ukraine, so very relevant - a hard recommend for those Non-Fiction lovers out there.
Righto that’s it from me.
Lots of love. Do check in and say hello!
